KRASNOYARSK, Feb 1 (PRIME) -- Gold mining companies of Russia’s Zabaikalsky Region increased gold output by 7% to over 12 tonnes in 2016, an analyst at the geology and subsurface use department of the region’s Natural Resources Ministry Alexei Zakharov said on Wednesday.
Tungsten concentrate production rose by 10% to 1,700 tonnes in the period, lead and zinc production remained flat at over 43,000 and 6,000 tonnes, respectively. Coal output grew by 5% on the year to over 20 million tonnes.
The region’s major lode gold producer Novo-Shirokinsky produced over 2 tonnes of gold, Rudnik Alexandrovsky over 1.3 tonnes of gold and Mangazeya Mining over 850 kilograms in 2016.
The biggest placer gold miners were Uryumkan and Ksenyevsky Priisk, which produced 700 and 430 kilograms of gold in the period, respectively.
The Tunguisky coal mine produced 13 million tonnes of coal, the biggest volume in the post-Soviet period.
The Novoorlovsky ore dressing complex made 1,700 tonnes of tungsten concentrate, more than it used to produce in the Soviet Union.
